May 2021 newsletter features Erik Hulm (TeoGeo Consulting) presenting on the North American Cordilleran Foreland Megasequence from Gulf of Mexico to Arctic Ocean. President Jon Harvey announces this as the final speaker event for the season and encourages voting for new officers. FCGS summer picnic scheduled for August 29th at Junction Creek. Foundation awards three research grants to master's students studying topics including Cambrian formations mapping, Eagle Evaporite Formation, and wildfire intensity analysis. Four Fort Lewis College graduating geology seniors presenting their thesis research: Nathanael Hunter on Utah's East Great Salt Lake fault, Gregory Palese on Elk Creek rock avalanche, Austin Peterson and Diego Schutz on the Dunmore vein system mineralization. President Jon Harvey encourages attendance at this traditional capstone event. Officer elections announced for May with all positions open except President-Elect.
